Mennonite families and German Quaker in 1681. This town became a part of
Philadelphia in 1854 and has played a very significant role in the
American Revolution. This place is known to be the birthplace of
American antislavery movement, which was a revolt against
African-American slavery. This protest was known as the 1688 Germantown
Quaker Petition Against Slavery, which was finalized to abolish racism
and slavery from America. This movement made Germantown a historic town of Philadelphia and gave it a prominent position on the American map.
The Quaker Capital City is not only known for being the origin place of antislavery movement in America but is also famous for being home to many prominent schools and institutions.
